It is amazing to me, that the people in this rural part of China, eat like kings but sleep and live with such basic standards.
A hotel room cost less than a good dinner.
It is common to see people eat great lavish meals in good places, while you will see absolutely no lovely designed house or a comfortable home anywhere.
It must be a remnant of the strict Communist era, which did not allow luxury or personal comfort.
Having a lovely house was the height of “bourgeois” and was forbidden.
But the Communist regime could NOT forbid or control what people ate for dinner behind closed doors.
